Katie split her time growing up between the suburbs of Chicago and California's San Joaquin Valley. She received her B.A. in Film and Television Production with an emphasis in Producing from USC School of Cinematic Arts.

Katie has been awarded for multiple short films and documentaries. THEY, a sci-fi about three friends who discover the meaning of a mysterious interstellar message and its ominous threat to planet Earth was awarded Outstanding Acting Ensemble at Zedd Fest Film Festival 2015. ONCE UPON A NIGHT, the story about a college graduate's night of celebration that ends in murder, was awarded Best Short Film at L.A. Thriller Film Fest 2015. 

Her documentary, RIGHT TO ROW, won Best Documentary at the New Generation Filmmakers Film Festival 2015. It was also an Official Selection at the Newport Beach Film Festival 2016. 

In the spring of 2018 under the guidance of Gail Katz (THE PERFECT STORM, IN THE LINE OF FIRE, AIR FORCE ONE), Katie developed and produced the thriller limited series, COVENTRY. Army veteran, Morgan Reed, suffers from traumatic memories. While in a coma at a military research facility, Dr. Nate Spiers, wakes her with instructions to break out and evade her captors. Her ultimate goal - find what's happened to her mind. COVENTRY won the 2018 Caucus Foundation Award for Outstanding Student Program Television/New Media.

In 2019, Katie was an assistant director to Justin Zachary's directorial debut, NOW, the story of a computer scientist in the near future who scrutinizes his girlfriends memories only to discover a haunting truth that he's desperate to cover up. NOW won Best Film at the LA Fantasy/Sci-Fi Festival and Best Director at the Feel the Reel International Film Festival. It was also an official collection at the Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival, Open World Toronto Film Festival, and the Miami International Science Fiction Film Festival.

Katie was recently a Producing Trainee for the feature, PAPER TIGER, written and directed by Paul Kowalski (BREATHE, SHADOWS), and starring Lydia Look (CRAZY RICH ASIANS) and Lynn Chen (SAVING FACE) which premiered at the Austin Film Festival in October 2020.
